According to official data, there are now 192 more people hospitalised in the ward, bringing the total to 2,219, and six more people hospitalised in intensive care units, bringing the total to 160.

There are 10,571 more recovered from the disease, but 34,968 more active cases, which puts the total at 489,789 currently active cases in Portugal.

The bulletin also mentions 26,789 contacts under surveillance, out of a total of 478,883 people in this situation.

Lisbon and Vale do Tejo recorded another 8,258 new cases of covid-19 and 16 deaths, the North another 5,942 cases and 10 deaths; the Centre 3,440 new cases and two deaths; the Alentejo 1,108 new cases and one death; and the Algarve 613 new cases and one death.

In the autonomous regions, there were no deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, with Madeira recording 152 new cases and the Azores 56.

Mortality from Covid-19 has increased by 47% in a week, now standing at 37.6 deaths per one million inhabitants, a figure higher than that defined by the European Center for Disease Control (ECDC), warned on Friday the report of the “red lines” of the DGS.

Regarding the number of infected people hospitalised in Intensive Care Units (ICU), health authorities revealed a stable trend.

The risk analysis of the pandemic also adds that the number of infections by SARS-CoV-2, per 100,000 inhabitants accumulated in the last 14 days, was 5,053, with an increasing trend nationally and in all regions.

The transmissibility index (Rt) stands at 1.10 at the national level, with the North and Algarve regions having the highest value (1.14).

Also according to official data from the DGS, more than 4.2 million people have already been vaccinated with the booster dose against covid-19.
