A long time ago, my memory is slow, an angel came to me
I gave her a name and felt I was to blame
A mystery from whom she came
She was a gift to our family and sent directly, and so correctly
A long time ago an angel we once entertained
We could put no food on her plate, no drink on her lips
But a tube in her nose which we opened and closed, was given to me
No speech on her tongue
No games in the street, no shoes on her feet
Oh! how are hearts beat
An angel we once entertained
Our angel we once entertained, her life ended in vain
We tried, we cried, however she died
We were unable to keep her alive
12 summers of joy she brought to us
12 years of strife ended her life
Our angel Adele we once entertained

What a beautiful and, yet, heartbreaking poem.
