The seizures, out of a total of 1,354,920 eggs, were carried out by specialised brigades from the industries of the central and northern regional units of the Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE).
The largest quantity seized, 1,338,120 eggs worth almost €106,000, was at an action, in the district of Castelo Branco, at an Egg Classification and Packaging Center where they found eggs already classified without presenting mandatory information, namely regarding the batch, dates, durability and provenance.
In the Castelo Branco centre, the brigades also verified a discrepancy between the weekly records of the product and the stocks on site.
At the wholesale establishment in the municipality of Guimarães, 16,800 eggs were seized, worth €2,100, due to the lack of a mandatory identification mark and lack of traceability.
The ASAE “cracked” the case…. I’m not yoking, but don’t throw those eggs away.
