This comes after Brussels approved the mobilisation of funds for rural development. Portugal’s Minister of Agriculture said the support could reach up to €15,000 for individual or collective farmers or up to 100 thousand euros for agri-food companies.

The funds intend to support extensive livestock farming, affected by increases in rations and drought, but also other sectors affected by increases in production costs, such as fruit, wine and permanent and temporary crops.
