In a statement sent to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM), Ibersol revealed that the agreement provides for the opening of 70 new units in the Iberian Peninsula over the next ten years.
The Portuguese group also informed the CMVM that negotiations with Restaurant Brands Ibéria to sell Burger King restaurants will continue until June 30.
The nearly 160 Burger King restaurants in Portugal were valued at €250 million, plus €7 million in tax credits and €3 million from investment in two additional restaurants opened in 2022.
Do we really need a 'Pret invasion' on the Iberian Peninsula? I mean, is there nowhere safe from all this factory food? Lettuce leaves and Quinoa aside, it's just overpriced, over hyped and all with that delicious 'Pret flavour'... that words just can't describe. Sorry, but Pret was fine when it was small and new. Now it's just another chain selling fast food, in a fast paced environment at prices that are ridiculous and all for the smarter packaging. They literally opened one every 50m in SW1 London, to the point you'd think they actually owned the streets and only to close a lot of them after lockdown/covid (not that I'm complaining). Guess they want to move onto unchartered terra-firma, but I'd be staying clear thanks. I'd rather stick to an independent cafe/patisserie/restaurant, selling me 'unbranded' food that doesn't cost me the earth to eat it.

Please for the love of God, stop letting these chain companies turn this beautiful country into a mini UK/wannabe USA. Those countries have become nothing but the lands of cheap, tacky and unhealthy!
