According to the weekly report by the Instituto Nacional de
Saúde Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) on the evolution of the pandemic, the average
number of daily cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus within five
days has dropped from 10,080 to 7,690 nationwide.
The document also adds that the average value of the Rt
between 4 and the 8 July was 0.89 in Portugal and 0.90 on the mainland,
slightly higher than the 0.88 recorded in the previous period.
According to INSA, all regions register an Rt - which
estimates the number of secondary cases of infection resulting from each person
carrying the virus that causes covid-19 - below the threshold of 1, with the
exception of the Algarve, which is at 1, 00.
The North has an Rt of 0.89, the Centre of 0.90, Lisbon and
Vale do Tejo of 0.88, the Alentejo of 0.94, the Azores of 0.87 and Madeira of
0.88.
“All regions, with the exception of the North region, have
an incidence rate of more than 960 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days”,
with the highest in the Algarve (1,919.3), followed by Madeira (1,513.8) and
the Azores (1,511.6), indicates INSA.
