“We knew there was a risk that electricity would go up 40%
in August. Today the Government came to say that it was not quite like that,
but it did not clarify much, and the Prime Minister should interrupt his
holidays to explain this”, said the party leader.
Unclear
Despite the Secretary of State for the Environment and
Energy, João Galamba, having denied the increase, André Ventura stressed that
the issue is not clear at this moment and that the government official did not
say what the increase would be.
“At the time we are talking, the Portuguese are wondering
what will the increase in their electricity bill in August will be”, stressed
the leader of Chega.
The Chega leader understands that any increase in the
current situation “is complicated, especially with inflation reaching historic
levels, similar to the values of 1994, which could reach 10% at the end of
the year, and if we add this increase in energy, we can open the door to a very
deep crisis”.
