The Autumn
Cycle, promoted by Inatel Foundation, proposes four pipe organ concerts in the
municipalities of Coimbra, Arganil, Cantanhede and Miranda do Corvo.
According
to the director of the Inatel Foundation in Coimbra, Bruno Paixão, this cycle
aims to "enhance culture as well as generating awareness of the existing
organ heritage".
"The
Inatel Foundation proposes to diversify this cycle through the territory,
bringing some new faces among the instrumentalists and providing the spectators
access with free entrance", said the responsible, in a press release sent
to Lusa.
The opening
concert will take place on Saturday, in the church of Santa Casa da
Misericórdia of Arganil, on the day that marks the World Day of Music.
The
performance of Baroque Music by Organ and Flute, with Paulo Bernardino and
Alexandre Andrade, will start at 4pm.
About an
hour later, a visit to the Museum Room "Miguel Torga's office doctor
Adolfo Rocha" is scheduled.
The second
concert is scheduled for 8 October, at 9pm, in Santa Cruz Church, in Coimbra.
The
performance will be by the organist, pianist and harpsichordist Nuno Oliveira,
who this year conducted the Portuguese premiere of the Oratorio de São João
Baptista by Alessandro Stradella, at Centro Cultural de Belém.
The third
concert takes place on 14 October, at the Semide Monastery, in the municipality
of Miranda do Corvo. The cultural offer begins at 20:00, with a guided tour to
the monastery and a tasting of regional products. The concert by Swiss-born
organist Carole Reis will start at 21:30.
The cycle
closes on 22 October, at 21:00, with the performances of Polish soprano
Patrycja Gabrel and organist Daniel Oliveira, at the Parish Church of Santo
António, in Covões, municipality of Cantanhede.
The Autumn
Pipe Organ cycle is an initiative of the INATEL Foundation and its partners are
the Coimbra Diocese, Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Arganil, as well as the
Municipalities of Cantanhede, Coimbra and Miranda do Corvo.
