The band,
comprising lead singer Julia Hammond with guitarists Roger Guppy and Barbara
Leitch providing the music and backing vocals, entertained over 100 guests
whilst their appreciative audience dined, danced and reminisced to a variety of
music for all tastes spanning the last 6 decades.
The
fabulous total of 9.360€ consisted of a proportion of the ticket sales, a
raffle and an auction. Prizes were donated by a range of local businesses with
special thanks going to Howard's Folly Vineyard, Alentejo, Quinta Chefs and
Quinta Golf for their generous auction prizes.
The
Salvation Army were present to witness the amazing total raised and were
overcome by the generosity of the local community. Captain Filipe said ‘no
words can express our gratitude. The sum raised will make a huge difference to
local families by providing Christmas food parcels and back to school equipment
for local children.’
Julia Hammond and the band continue to work tirelessly in their support of many different charities and, after a well-deserved week off, they will be back in the rehearsal room next week planning their next event. They very much hope to see you there!
