"The State has to
distance itself from this, as soon as possible. There is no fix for TAP, and
much less it has no respect for Portuguese taxpayers. It is painful to see
this", he wrote on Twitter.
It should be noted
that TAP crew will go ahead with a strike on the 8th and 9th of December, which
was decided at a general meeting of the National Civil Aviation Flight
Personnel Union (SNPVAC).
The crew's union
justifies the strike notice with the "systematic violations" of the
Company Agreement in force and the Temporary Emergency Agreement.
To this are added the
"lack of respect that TAP has shown towards the crew" and the
"more than questionable management decisions that end up having a direct
and indirect impact" on the lives of these workers.
It should be TaP customers who should be on strike. TaP should have been gone the way of other national carriers and have been liquidated, the overpaid staff put out to pasture and billions of tax-payer money saved. The routes would have been picked up by more efficient carriers.
