Óbidos Vila Gaming, will take place from 4 to 7 May, with the organisers estimating to attract between 5,000 and 10,000 people per day.

Presented as "the first Gaming Village in the World", the event will take to Cerca do Castelo and the Óbidos Technological Park, in the district of Leiria, for four days of programming linked to video games, in a challenge that aims to "create a differentiating event" and bring new audiences to the village, said the mayor, Filipe Daniel (PSD).

Two stages and seven-game areas will be installed in the village, which will have more than 200 game stations in the areas of entertainment, videogames and Esports; more than 30 gaming computers; more than 80 PlayStation consoles, which will be joined by 40 retro consoles, 30 arcades and 15 virtual reality stations.

Organised by the municipal company Óbidos Criativa, in partnership with E2Tech – Eventos e Entretenimento Tecnológico, a pioneer company in the Portuguese market in the organization of videogames and Esports events, Óbidos Vila Gaming will provide “content that covers all ages, giving the opportunity for younger gamers to enter a Fortnite arena”.

With close to 130 hours of competitions and more than five thousand euros in prizes up for grabs, Óbidos Vila Gaming results from an investment of 250 thousand euros, made by the municipality, which estimates that it will attract between five thousand and 10 thousand people to the event daily, which will take place every two years.

Tickets for Óbidos Vila Gaming will cost 10 euros for adults and 8 euros for children up to 12 years old. Alternatively, a four-day pass will be sold at the price of 15 euros.

Entrance is free for residents of the municipality.
