“CP – Comboios de Portugal informs that, after a period of intensive negotiations, over the last week, it has reached an agreement with the National Union of Train Drivers (SMAQ) that puts an end to the cycle of strikes that had been affecting the railway sector. This consensus was reached with the collaboration of the Ministry of Infrastructure, which mediated the conversations between the parties involved”, according to a report by ECO.

Since the beginning of the year, train drivers have demanded an increase in wages compatible with average inflation of 7.8% in 2022.
