The Algarve LGBTQI+ Pride Parade has been, since its first edition, an important milestone in the fight for the rights of LGBTQI+ people, in the celebration of diversity and in the reflection of past and future achievements.
Since 2018, several organisations have come together in a joint effort to elevate this initiative at a local and national level, colouring the streets, giving voice to the cause and raising awareness on the topic of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression and Sexual Characteristics.
In 2023, the Organizing Committee of MOA - Marcha do Orgulho LGBTQI+ do Algarve, intends to create again these moments of celebration, awareness, and empowerment, having scheduled the 4th Edition of MOA for May 27th, in Faro.
The event will essentially consist of two major moments: - First, the actual Pride Parade, with its meeting point next to João de Deus Secondary School (Praceta do Infante) at 3pm. This will be followed by a descent down Avenida 5 de Outubro, passing through Parque da Pontinha and Rua de Santo António, ending at Doca de Faro, near Jardim Manuel Bívar, at around 6pm; The second moment will take place after the arrival at Faro Docks around 6pm where, on the stage, the Manifesto will be read out loud (a list of LGBTQI+ rights to be fought for), followed by entertainment until 9pm with shows, namely performances by Drags (Melanie Nova, Linda Xennon, Bebeh Renée, Cherry Flavor, Eva Brown, Stefani Duvet, Pariga, Patricia Spears and Carina D'El Monte) and a set by DJ Dyezy.
The LGBTQI+ Pride Parade is, above all, a space where desires, achievements, freedoms, and expressions are reflected. Because every voice counts, the Organizing Committee invites everyone, on 27o May, to be MOA, regardless of their Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression and Sexual Characteristics. Whoever is present in this event will contribute to a greater number of people allied to the promotion of Human Rights, unifying the power of a community for education and change.
Along with the presence in the Parade, it is also possible to contribute with a donation, through the link: https://ppl.pt/causas/Amar. This fundraising will allow the Committee to cover some expenses related to the promotion of the 4th edition of the LGBTQI+ Pride March.

I can’t think of one human right that doesn’t apply to the LGBTQ+ community.

The first meeting point is outside a school at school closing time, when the kids are coming out.
Are you parents paying attention yet?

As an ally to the LGBTQI+ community, this is a very positive and uplifting event. I hope everyone involved had a wonderful time; free from the bigotry and hate of the uneducated, closedminded, and ignorant.
