According to a report by NM, the Navy said that the frigate D. Francisco de Almeida, "within the scope of surveillance of waters under national sovereignty", "accompanied" the passage of the ship, between last Friday, June 9th, and this Monday, June 12th.
"These monitoring and follow-up actions actively contribute to the defense of national interests and the exercise of State authority at sea, also demonstrating Portugal's commitment to NATO's collective effort", said the Navy.
This is a normal procedure for monitoring maritime spaces whenever warships from countries that do not belong to the NATO transatlantic alliance sail in Portuguese waters.

Why in the world would Portugal or any other EU state let Russian ships transit in its waters or Russian aircraft fly over our skies? This is beyond absurd and pretty dangerous.

Leave those ships alone! They don't need your "company"! This ongoing unfair treatment of Russia has to stop! Was Portugal discriminating Western countries during their unjustified bombardments and destruction of Lybia, Irak, Serbia, Syria, Afeganistão, etc.? What a shame!
