Lagoa is once again the epicentre of the Candlelight Cultures Market, with its upcoming 8th Edition, where it will have as its cultural theme the "Cultures and Rituals of Ibero-America". The Convent of São José and the surrounding streets will receive, over 4 nights, more than 50 thousand visitors, 60 artisans from various cultures and religions around the world, who will show the thousands of visitors their traditions, flavours and arts.

This cultural event aims to encompass the cultural and sonic diversity of the Ibero-American culture of the world. The traditional root songs will be highlighted in the various scenarios of the event, with the presence of the groups Son de Cuba (Cuba), Mariachi Mezcal (Mexico), Lídia Brandão, Grupo Muzenza, Batucada Som Brasil (Brazil), Viento Nuevo (Ecuador), La Porteña Tango (Argentina) and the musician José Luís Pastor who will interpret the melodies of the Iberian Peninsula, at the time of the Discovery of America.

As in previous editions, there will be different spaces that aim to delight visitors. The whole event will have seven zones with more than 40 symbols designed with candles that intend to make known the religions, traditions, gastronomy and mythology of Ibero-American culture.

The exhibition hall of Convent São José will receive a photography exhibition called "(En)cantos do Brasil". In this same room, there will be an "Altar de Muertos" representative of the "Dia de Muertos" of Mexico, which is dedicated to Frida Khalo.

As is customary in this cultural event, gastronomy plays a very important role. In this sense, Convent São José will become a bar with Brazilian gastronomy. Outside the bar, there will be picanha and other gastronomic specialties.

The market grounds open their doors at 7:00 pm, close at 00:30 am and the candles that make up the symbols, which attract thousands of visitors to the market, are lit at 8:30 pm.

Admission is free and the available car parks are located next to the Carlos do Carmo Municipal Auditorium, on the land in front of Escola Básica Jacinto Correia and in the grounds of the Parque de Feiras e Exposições de Lagoa. Car parks are free.
