Documentary control at air, sea and land borders within the scope of WYD came into force on 22 July and is being carried out in a selective and targeted manner based on information and risk analysis.

A balance made by the Internal Security System (SSI) indicates that, until Wednesday, 15,390 vehicles were controlled at land borders, 1,436 vessels at maritime borders and 5,171 planes at air borders.

According to the SSI, 102 people were refused entry at the land borders and 57 at the air borders, the majority due to lack of a valid visa, lack of proof of the purposes of the stay, prohibition of entry into the Schengen area and lack of a suitable visa for the intended purpose.

The SSI also indicated that 56,987 people were controlled, since July 22, at the land borders and 72,254 passengers at the maritime borders by the SEF and GNR, while at the airports the SEF and the PSP controlled 896,696 people.

Documentary control at air, sea and land borders within the scope of WYD will take place until next Monday.
