“Of this number, a significant percentage, around 20%, are foreign students, coming from various countries”, revealed the councilor and vice-president of the municipality.

For these students, there is a “Multidisciplinary Team for an Innovative Plan to Combat School Failure, with the Local Support Center for the Integration of Migrants – CLAIM”.

Given the high number of children on the waiting list for pre-school education, the Council will reopen two rooms in the old facilities of the Marrazes Kindergarten no. 2 and the renovation and expansion of the old elementary school (EB) is being prepared. Anabela Graça also said they will renovate and re-open more school classrooms with budget of 7.3 million euros, as well as the opening of Secondary School Afonso Lopes Vieira, with a base price of 5.1 million euros.

She added the municipality will continue the program of family entertainment and support activities in all kindergartens in the municipality, with 100% coverage, and the development of the “Arte Palmas” project, offering music and dance activities for children.
