According to provisional data provided by the Association of Hotels and Tourist Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA) in the summary of the monthly evolution of activity in the sector, the record is 3.1% below the average occupancy value in September 2019 (the year prior to the pandemic).

According to the business association, the markets that contributed most to the rise were the British with 2.4 (p.p.) more, the German (+2 p.p.) and the Irish (+1 p.p.) markets.

According to AHETA, the average stay in accommodation units was 4.3 nights, identical to that seen in the same month of 2022.

In September, the longest average stays were in the Netherlands market, with 5.9 nights, followed by Ireland, with 5.3 nights.

By geographical areas, the biggest increases, compared to the same period last year, occurred in the areas of Monte Gordo/Vila Real de Santo António (+9 p.p.), Faro/Olhão (+6 p.p.) and Carvoeiro/Armação de Pera ( +5 p.p.).
