“Right now, AmadoraBD is a festival that highlights the best in contemporary comics not only in Portugal but also abroad. We are increasingly reaching out to a wider, more intergenerational audience, which is our goal too”.

This year, AmadoraBD will once again occupy the grounds of the former Ski Skate Park in Amadora, where the central exhibition center, the commercial area, launches and autograph sessions and the gaming area will be located. There will also be exhibitions at the Artur Bual municipal gallery and at Bedeteca da Amadora.

For Catarina Valente, the festival tries to make a compromise between showing classic comics and more recent works, so that it is “dedicated to all generations of readers”.

The program also tries to balance the area of exhibitions with that of contact between authors, the public and editors.

In 2022, between 15,000 and 20,000 visitors attended the festival, a number that the organisation hopes to at least equal this year.

Among the authors invited this year are designers Bob McLeod, Mick Gray, Maurício de Sousa, Émile Bravo, Miguel Mendonça, Chloé Cruchadet, Jorge Coelho, Filipe Andrade, among others.

AmadoraBD, which is organised by the Amadora city council, ends on the 29th.
