Bernardo Silva came ninth in the classification of the edition dedicated to the 2022/23 season, becoming the fourth national player to enter the top 10 of the trophy awarded by France Football more than once, equalling ninth place in 2019.

The Portuguese footballer, 29 years old, played in 55 games in 2022/23 and won the Champions League, the English League and the FA Cup, a triple that also earned Rúben Dias, the other Portuguese named, 30th position on the list.

The attacking midfielder was also at the 2022 World Cup for the Portuguese team, in which he was also a leading figure.

His second entry into the world's top 10 brings him closer to three 'legends' of national football, after Figo had three, one of them the victory in 2000, and Eusébio eight, including the 1965 award.

Still, the greatest Portuguese player on this list is Cristiano Ronaldo, with 14 appearances among the best, including five times when he was crowned the best in the world that year: 2008, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.
