The story of "Wish", which premieres in Portugal next Thursday, takes place during the 13th century in a fantastic kingdom founded by the Magnificent King, based on his rules and philosophy and where he discovered how to fulfil the population's wishes.

“One of the things that really pleased us about the Iberian Peninsula is that it was a time when people came from all over the world and this connected in an inspiring way to the story we wanted to tell”, said the creative director of the studios at Walt Disney animation.

“It coincided with this wonderful idea that people could come from far away and choose to be there,” said Jennifer Lee. “We wanted to make sure we felt like people were choosing to come because they wanted to entrust their wishes to the king.”

“Wish” tells the origins of asking for a wish upon a star, a common thread in the studio’s classic stories. This explains why the creative team set the action earlier than the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm or Hans Christian Andersen.

Directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn, “Wish” is produced by Peter Del Vecho and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster Jones. It was co-written by Jennifer Lee and Allison Moore, with original songs by Julia Michaels.

The English voices are Ariana DeBose (“Asha”), Chris Pine (“Magnificent King”) and Alan Tudyk (“Valentino”).

The premiere is scheduled for November 23rd in Portuguese cinemas.
