On January 4th, the former Late Late show host—who was fired from his 9 a.m. RTÉ Radio One position due to the payment’s controversy—will kick off the programme.

Tubridy announced the news on the station's Chris Evans Breakfast Show, calling it “quite surreal” and expressing his “desperate excitement.”

His new show will be simultaneously aired on Dublin's Q102 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekdays.

Additionally, Tubridy will broadcast a “dedicated Irish weekend show” from London via the regional radio networks of the Wireless Ireland Group, which includes Q102 and FM104 in Dublin, 96FM in Cork, Live95FM and LMFM in Limerick.

“I couldn’t be more excited to start this new chapter with Virgin Radio,” Tubridy said in a statement.

“New city, new station, new beginnings. I love radio and what a joy to be following the legendary Chris Evans every morning. It’s been a pleasure getting to know my new friends at Virgin Radio, all of whom have been warm, engaging and very entertaining.

“And big thanks to the London Irish who have made me feel so welcome in recent weeks. On a personal note, this is a big day for my wonderful family who I hope to make proud, and also the people who advised me so well recently and got me to this moment.

“To the listeners, wherever they might be, I urge you to join us on this adventure every weekday morning, there is much fun to be had.”

The statement came after the former RTÉ presenter posted on Instagram on Thursday morning, informing his 255,000 followers that he was on his way to a building near the river Thames, where he would be making a significant revelation, while in the 'back of a London cab'.

After weeks of criticism over the organisation's public underreporting of his income, Tubridy departed RTÉ in the summer.

The broadcaster was greeted by Virgin Radio UK programming director Mike Cass upon her arrival.

“The news that Ryan will be joining the incredible group of presenters on Virgin Radio UK fills me with immense joy.

“He has long been Ireland's top broadcaster, and Virgin Radio will finally introduce his warmth, wit, and distinct appeal to the UK public.

“He'll be Chris Evans' ideal tag partner and the perfect companion for a midmorning coffee.”
