Pot 2 confirms the participation of Turkey and Romania, while Pot 3 is occupied by Croatia due to their qualifying, pushing Italy into Pot 4, which also includes Switzerland and the three play-off winners.

For the Euro 2024 draw, the four pots are all but decided. All that remains to be done after the qualifying group stage is to determine which three teams advance to the fourth pot by winning each of the three play-off rounds.

Turkey and Romania declared on Tuesday that they had placed first in their respective groups and, thus, were in pot 2.

Italy will move to pot 4, which was also announced on Tuesday for Switzerland, who lost to Romania to win the group. Croatia, who won the last berth through the group stage tonight evening, will go into pot 3.

The hosts Germany, as well as France, Spain, Belgium, and England, are among the “sharks” that Portugal, in pot 1, is avoiding. However, in the next three pots, they might face some of the top teams in Europe.

The host country and the top five qualifying group winners comprise pot 1. It should be noted that performances against teams ranked sixth or below are not taken into account for this selection, as some groups consist of five teams while others have six. Pot 2 has the best runner-up together with the five worst group winners.

There are six more runners-up in Pot 3 (ranging from the second-best to the seventh-best among the ten groups). The three losers and the three victors of the play-off slated for March 2024 are in Pot 4.
