After a draft schedule was released in September, there was a public consultation before the modifications, which went into effect on Sunday, would bring extra trains to a number of rail routes.

One of the newly announced routes is a 6 a.m. Heuston to Cork route that will run from Monday through Friday. Suitable for commuters, the train is planned to arrive in Cork each morning shortly after 8.30am.

Additionally, the route will link at Limerick Junction, allowing passengers to arrive in Limerick's Colbert Station before 8 a.m.

There are now additional Monday through Friday routes available for Heuston-Carlow and Westport-Athlone, the latter of which connects to Ballina services.

Irish Rail has announced that the revised schedule significantly expands the Sunday commuter services from Heuston to Portlaoise, adding eight more routes to Heuston and seven to Portlaoise. Additionally, in order to link with the commuter services, stops have been added to some Heuston/Cork routes at Portlaoise.

There are now three more trains operating Monday through Friday from Dublin's Connolly Station to Drogheda, and two more trains will go the opposite direction.

Irish Rail stated that the weekend Dart services have undergone major modifications as a result of the new timetable "to improve performance," which has an effect on the timetables of other routes that travel to and from Connolly.
