“The new vision of Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal will be to insert itself as an organisation of international expression, which aims to promote the destination Porto and Norte de Portugal in an innovative and competitive way, contributing value to the region’s economy, following measures of sustainability and exceptional service to visitors”, reads a statement from TPNP.

The president of TPNP, Luís Pedro Martins, explained that the strategy until 2023 is to promote the tourist destination in the North of Portugal with the approved plan, representing an investment of €14 million and whose “strategic objectives” are “sustainability”, “financial autonomy”, as well as “training and qualification”.

The two entities at a general assembly, in Matosinhos (Porto), assumed a new mission to develop the destination and work towards achieving ambitious “medium and long-term” objectives.

Luís Pedro Martins welcomes the trust placed by associates in the approval of the 2024/2030 Strategy but noted that it will only be possible to reach the “level of sophistication” that the sector demands if there is unity and opportunities to grow in value throughout the region.

“Let us be able to come together in times of abundance, as we did in times of difficulty, and realise the value of tourism, improving the quality of life of the people who inhabit the territory”, he adds.
