The predictions were made during a visit to the works of the future Estrela station, located in the former Military Hospital, which was attended by the Prime Minister, António Costa, the Minister of the Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva, and the Minister of Environment and Climate Action, Duarte Cordeiro.

Underground and, after a brief explanation about the works that are underway within the scope of the new Circular line, the government officials walked through the few hundred meters of the tunnel that will connect the future Estrela and Santos stations.

The next phase will be the completion of the tunnel that will connect Santos station to Cais do Sodré, closing the ring of a connection that will start from Campo Grande (beginning of the current Yellow line).

Metropolitano de Lisboa plans to open the Circular line in the first quarter of 2025 (the initial forecast was at the end of 2024), with an estimated investment of 330 million euros.
