Temperatures are forecast to plummet from today with the arrival of a polar air mass from the North Atlantic, which is expected to bring a significant drop in temperatures throughout Portugal and cold and rain for the first weekend in January.

The sharp decrease in temperatures will be especially noticeable in the northern and central interior regions, where thermometers could drop to below zero degrees Celsius, with a chance of snowfall in Serra da Estrela.
The cold weather is forecast to affect the entire national territory; temperatures today are not expected to exceed a maximum of 15 degrees Celsius.
