"After consulting several entities linked to the weather forecast, Loulé City Council decided to cancel the first day of the Loulé 2024 Carnival parade, scheduled for this Sunday, February 11th, from 3pm, on Avenida José da Costa Mealha", said the Algarve municipality in a statement.

The organization considered that, "even if the weather improves this afternoon, the rain predicted for before the start of the parade could jeopardize the entire logistics of the parade, in particular the costumes and decorations", explained the municipality from the district of Faro.

The same source highlighted that the materials used to decorate the floats are decorated with paper flowers and rain could cause damage and jeopardize the remaining two days of the Loulé Carnival.

The municipality of Loulé stated that tickets for today will be valid for Monday and Tuesday.
