“We will stop on March 14th to demand stable employment contracts. We stopped to demand a general increase in salaries, it is not acceptable that a profession with this relevance and demand is paid with salaries that are barely enough to survive on”, announced the president of the SJ, Luís Simões.

In January, journalists unanimously approved the holding of a general strike against low wages and the deterioration of working conditions.

The vote took place at the 5th Congress of Journalists, in Lisbon, which mandated the SJ to define the date of the strike.
