As part of an application accepted by the Directorate-General for the Arts (DGArtes), Pombal is going to receive a monetary support of €150 thousand every year during four years, the district authority from Leiria has stated. According to a press release the programming plan for Pombal’s Teatro-Cine (Cine Theatre) aims “to cultivate the relationship between creators and spectators.”
Pedro Pimpão, the president of the Chamber, has mentioned in a press release the major support of DGArtes, adding that “This important achievement is yet another electoral commitment fulfilled as one of the objectives assumed with the population was to reinforce the Teatro-Cine's programming as a permanent 'gateway' to the municipality's cultural activity, enhancing its integration into the Network of Portuguese Theaters and Cinemas.”
The municipality has mentioned that “In a balance between emergence and artistic excellence on the national scene, it aims to create space for innovation and new drama, integrating different artistic dimensions into its activities and seeking to promote diversity and access.” Divided into five different sections which are projects at a national level, co-productions, mediation, artistic residences, and cinematographic exhibition, the municipality aims to innovate and expand its partnerships.
The programming schedule for this year includes over a hundred cultural structures totalling around €554 thousand. These include the Festival de Teatro (Theater Festival), Festival Sete Sóis Sete Luas (Seven Suns Seven Moons Festival), Caminhos de Leitura (Reading Paths), and a cinematographic exhibition.
