The production team and crew of the Oscar-nominated film Poor Things, as well as the actor Oppenheimer, took a direct Aer Lingus aircraft from Dublin Airport.

Murphy's portrayal of theoretical physicist J Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan's movie has earned him a nomination for best actor. The Cork-born actress is one of the favourites to win as she has previously won best actor at the Bafta and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards.

Irish cinematographer Robbie Ryan, who is up for a nomination for his work on the Element Pictures film Poor Things, was also on the aircraft.

Chief customer officer of Aer Lingus, Susanne Carberry, expressed her gratitude to the airline for sponsoring Irish artists on their “cinematic journey” to the Oscars.

“At Aer Lingus, we make every journey count, and this week, our Oscar nominees are embarking on one of their most important journeys as they travel to LA to represent Ireland at the most iconic movie awards in the world,” she stated.

“Cillian and Robbie, together with the entire Irish delegation, have our best wishes for a wonderful trip, and our Aer Lingus workers will go above and beyond to make it happen. On the journey from Los Angeles back to Dublin, we expect to have extra seats to transport the golden statues!”
