The primary jersey's classic red and green hues “pay homage to the Portuguese flag and the nation's cultural creativity, which inspires the strong history of Portuguese football,” according to a statement.

The alternative jersey has a “typical design of the traditional blue tile” as well as being “inspired by the country's traditional architectural art, keeping home close to the hearts of the players and fans when they play away.”

With a contemporary twist, the National Team's new apparel reinterprets Portuguese culture and imagery to heighten the fervour of all the supporters that come together to support our national teams. The challenge is called ‘Share the Passion,’ the Portuguese Football Federation said.

“The aim is for the love of the shirt to transcend borders and be universal around our team, generating a huge wave of support.”
