Daily deliveries and pickups from Milk Supplier's farms and Dairygold's Castlefarm Dairy Processing Complex in Mitchelstown, County Cork will be made by the electric vehicle.

With just one charge, it can travel 300 kilometres.

The vehicle can be fully charged in 2.5 hours thanks to the construction of a charging station at the Castlefarm location.

According to Head of Sustainability Orlaith Tynan, Dairygold's larger emissions reduction strategy includes the electric milk lorry.

"The launch of the first electric milk truck in Ireland is a major turning point for the agriculture industry overall and for Dairygold's continued commitment to sustainability.

"The introduction of our electric truck is an important part of our corporate emissions reduction programme, extending from the great work being done by our farmers, our milk collection partners and our processing operations."

"We are very proud to be the first dairy processor in Ireland to introduce an electric milk truck to our fleet," Dairygold Interim Chief Executive Michael Harte remarked during the unveiling of the new electric milk truck.

"It's another step in the direction of Dairygold's more sustainable future.

"Dairygold's greenhouse gas emissions will be decreased by the electric truck, assisting us in meeting our 2030 carbon reduction goals.
