Vilamoura is a beautiful luxury resort on the south coast of Portugal. The population of the resort which was constructed as an ‘elite golfing centre’ in the 1980s is just under 4,000. The weather is also magnificent as according to WeatherAtlas, it rains on average around 77 days a year.

The Vilamoura Marina, which was voted ‘Best International Marina 2023’ is a magnificent place for tourists to see magnificent views of yachts, while having the option dine out for a very reasonable price. The resort has six luxury golf courses along with spectacular hotels such as the Hilton Vilamoura, which just won the ‘Best Incentive Hotel in Portugal 2023’ award and the five-star Tivoli Marina Vilamoura Algarve Resort. The marina is only a twenty minute taxi away from Quinta Shopping and a twenty-five minute taxi away from Algarve Shopping.

The last couple of days has seen really bad weather conditions for the region – however the nice, sunny weather is expected to return next week. Unfortunately, the weather has had an effect on tourism over the Easter weekend. Business in restaurants are ‘slow’ this week. In other businesses around the marina, businesses is ‘slow’ - however there was loads of activities to do and there was shops and restaurants open. The people there were really kind to me and couldn’t do more to help me.

The Brewery, which is a wonderful Irish bar on the marina are currently ‘very busy in the day and even busier in the night’ - while the ‘Masters’ bar is also quite busy despite hotel cancelations due to bad weather over the last week or so. However, the summer will see maximum bookings in the region – higher to that of pre-pandemic times.

As someone who has only just come to the Algarve for the very first time, the Vilamoura Marina was a really nice place to spend my Wednesday afternoon. In some ways, the lack of business and poor weather meant that we were served quicker and it was easier to navigate my surroundings. The journey from Lagoa to Vilamoura was really nice also, I wasn’t aware of Portugal’s beautiful landscape.
