Ulick and Des McEvaddy's private enterprise is putting out a proposal for a brand-new third terminal at Dublin Airport.
Plans submitted to the local council today by D.A. Terminal 3 Ltd. are not part of a formal application for planning clearance.
A third terminal and western campus would be positioned in between the two current runways according to the concept plan.
According to reports, the property between the two runways is already owned by the aviation tycoons, Des and Ulick McEvaddy.
As part of the proposals, a new hotel, offices, freight terminal, and extra parking lot would all be constructed.
A representative at D. A. Terminal 3 Ltd. stated, "There is a lot of discussion around increasing the passenger cap to forty million passengers, but this is short-sighted and lacks vision for future needs."
"Dublin Airport does, in fact, require a strategy grounded in the realities of what lies ahead. We're looking at a master plan that not only accommodates tourists' requirements but also grows the Western Campus, a major economic centre for Dublin and Fingal.
"The DAA estimates that its proposed developments and a modest twenty percent increase in capacity will cost €2.2 billion. We can increase capacity by twice the amount spent on a new terminal facility.
"Dublin Airport is a key entry point for Ireland's connectivity, and with air travel only expected to increase, it is imperative that we have the infrastructure in place to handle future demands. In addition to being a structure, Terminal 3 will represent a significant strategic investment in Ireland's connectivity and airport productivity. Dublin Airport has the potential to develop into a major hub for commercial activities and a worldwide aviation hub with our strategy. stated the spokesman.
