Lisbon Under Stars”, the immersive show that transforms the 'Ruínas do Carmo’ into a large three-dimensional canvas to explore, with all the senses, some of the most memorable moments from more than 600 years in the history of Lisbon and Portugal, is returning to the capital, from 2 May, at 9:30 pm.

After welcoming more than 170,000 visitors since its creation in 2018, the multimedia experience will once again fill the monument's nights with light, music, and dance, until 13 July. Catarina Furtado's unmistakable voice is the guiding thread of the entire experience, which transports the audience on an exciting journey through time, using 360-degree multimedia projections, virtual dancers, and visual effects, with special appearances from great references in culture, dance and Portuguese music, including Mariza, Teresa Salgueiro and Rão Kyao, to the sound of names such as Amália Rodrigues, Luís De Freitas Branco, Salvador Sobral or Zeca Afonso.

Under the same stars that saw the birth of the ‘Igreja do Carmo’, past and future come together to recreate, over the course of 45 minutes, episodes such as the Battle of Aljubarrota, the Age of Discoveries, the violent earthquake of 1755 or the 25 April, celebrating and exalting, in a very close, impactful and engaging way, the cultural legacy of the monument, which simultaneously acts as a stage and narrator of the historical events that it witnessed.

The show creates a unique virtual environment that each person explores in their own way, inviting the public to freely roam the Ruins throughout the experience, enjoying each moment from different angles.

According to Nuno Maya, Creative Director of the OCUBO studio, “Lisbon Under Stars is a great celebration of the heritage and culture of a country that, throughout its history, surpassed its small size to leave its mark on the world, and which still stands out today for its great capacity for overcoming, of resilience – the same that is inscribed in the history of this building – and for the richness of its history. From one of the most beautifully built landscapes in Lisbon, it is possible to delve deeply into this legacy, experience it, and experience truly unique moments, which provide a new perspective on the space and the city they occupy”.

Developed by the creative studio OCUBO in partnership with the Carmo Archaeological Museum, within the scope of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, “Lisbon Under Stars” was awarded the Gold A' Design Award in the Cultural, Heritage and Culture Industry Design Category 2018 - 2019 and first prize in the best cultural event category at the Bea World Best Event Awards. It was also nominated for the Heavent Awards and received an Honourable Mention at the LIT Design Awards.

After opening to the public on 2 May, the show will be available from Monday to Saturday, between 9:30 pm and 10:30 pm. Tickets cost between €15 and €20, with free entry for children up to 5 years old, with part of the profits going to the ‘Corações com Coroa’ association.
