Dublin was rated eighth on the list of most searched foreign destinations, according to Delta, which plans to introduce a new route from Dublin to Minneapolis in May in addition to a seasonal service from Shannon to JFK.

The list shows the places that Americans looking to go to between May and August 2024 have searched for, with searches during that time up 150% over the same period the previous year.

As reported by Delta, there is a strong demand among US passengers for international travel, as seen by the notable increase in searches for foreign destinations.

Throughout the summer, Delta will connect travellers with Boston, Atlanta, Minneapolis, and JFK via 33 weekly flights to Ireland.

Senior Vice President of Delta for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India, Matteo Curcio, expressed excitement about the airline's plans to grow its operations in Ireland this summer.

“We are excited to be expanding our footprint in Ireland next month, offering our customers a new Delta destination and more nonstop and one-stop travel options throughout the Americas from Ireland,” Curcio stated in a statement.

“Delta’s convenient schedule between Ireland and the U.S. and the start of these new routes will boost trade and tourism opportunities here in Ireland thanks to thousands more available seats this summer.”

Boeing 767-300 aircraft will be used for Delta's new flights from Shannon to JFK and Dublin to Minneapolis, the airline announced in a statement.

According to data from Tourist Ireland, Americans who travel for vacation play a significant role in the Irish tourist economy, with 72% of US visitors likely to remain longer than those from other nations.

When visiting Ireland, visitors from the US are more inclined to utilise high-end items and spend, on average, €900 over the course of their 8.5-day trip.
