In accordance with the municipality, the initiative is scheduled to take place in the morning on the Rossio Marquês de Pombal, in the area of the traditional market and antiques fair in the Alentejo town, with the aim of marking the date on which the Queen’s Festival is usually held, which is not taking place this year.
The programme includes various entertainment initiatives until 2pm, including music, dancing, juggling, and the parade that is usually a part of the Estremoz Medieval Queen Festival, which will travel through the streets of the city, from the Secondary School to Rossio Marquês de Pombal.
The municipality revealed, due to the need to carry out restoration work on the supporting wall of the Largo Dom Dinis viewpoint and the ongoing initiative for the concession of the Casa das Fardas, under the Revive Programme, it will not be possible to host the Queen’s Festival this year.
For this reason, the municipality of Estremoz and the Rainha Santa Isabel Secondary School have decided to hold this Medieval Market in association with one of the “ex-libris” of the city of Estremoz – the Saturday market, said the council.
Artisans and merchants wishing to take part as exhibitors can register at the Estremoz tourist office until May 14, added the municipality.
