The work, which began on April 9th and lasted 90 days, represented a total value of 194,743.51 euros.

The sections under intervention are on Caminho de Salomé, at the access to Ponte dos Mosqueiros, and at the east access to Ponte do Almargem. In some of them, rainwater drainage is being improved.

“These sections serve not only cyclists and pedestrians but also motorised traffic associated with agriculture, making their coexistence sometimes dangerous for both. Furthermore, the insertion of a large part of the Ecovia extension in natural park areas, associated with its multifunctionality, makes its paving a challenging process, as, on the one hand, the most environmentally suitable paving for those areas serves cyclists and Pedestrians, on the other hand, are not resistant enough for motorized vehicles”, explains the Municipality of Tavira.

The Ecovia in the Municipality of Tavira begins on Estrada do Lacém, between the Quinta de Cima and Quinta da Ria Golf Courses, on the limits of the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, and ends in Arroteia de Baixo, on the limits of the municipality of Olhão.
