The series' creator, George RR Martin, said that he will be travelling to Belfast this summer to begin filming his upcoming HBO series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

This television show, which was produced in Northern Ireland for over ten years, is situated in the same universe as Game of Thrones and is based on his Tales of Dunk and Egg series.

The BBC reports that in the upcoming weeks, filming will start at Belfast's Titanic Studios. According to Belfast Live, the new series will be based on the first two books in the trilogy, The Hedge Knight.

The series is described by the IMBD as follows: “A century before GOT, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire, Egg wandered through Westeros, while the Targaryen dynasty ruled the Iron Throne and dragons were still remembered, great destinies and enemies await the incomparable friends.”

English acting prodigy Dexter Sol Ansell, nine, has been cast as Egg, while Irish actor and former rugby player Peter Clafferty has been cast as Ser Duncan.

George R.R. Martin stated on his blog that he expects the programme to premiere in 2025. Fans may anticipate seeing adaptations of the remaining trilogy novels if it is favourably accepted.

He said: “The Hedge Knight will be a lot shorter than Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon, with a much different tone... but it's still Westeros, so no one is truly safe. Ira Parker and his team are doing a great job.”

“I hope to visit the shoot come July, when I swing by Belfast on my way to the Worldcon in Glasgow.”

“Next year, the programme will premiere. If it works well, The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight will come after. At that point, I expect to have completed a few more Dunk and Egg tales.”

Half of the six episodes of the new series will be produced under the direction of director Owen Harris.
