On the sidelines of the double celebration of June 10th taking place in Switzerland, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Luís Montenegro made a 'stopover' in Bern, on a train journey between Geneva and Zurich, after being invited to a meeting with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Viola Amhed, which the President of the Republic classified as “very, very productive”.

“The main message was admiration for the Portuguese community. Madam President, on several occasions, particularly during the more formal part of the lunch, where there is a toast, she praised the Portuguese community here in Switzerland and its presence and importance for the future. And, at the same time, accepted the invitation to go to Portugal until the end of the year”, revealed Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

According to the President of the Republic, it was “very clear” that bilateral relations “are frankly good and that they owe a lot to the Portuguese community here”, in Switzerland.
