“There is a huge probability that we have surpassed the objective of one million visitors, which proves once again that the fair fulfils its role of promoting reading and literacy rates”, said the president of the Portuguese Association of Editors and Booksellers (APEL).

According to Pedro Sobral, in terms of sales, the objectives also seem to have exceeded expectations, with “the majority of associates” saying that the fair, which took place between May 29th and June 16th, “went better than in the past".

From what was observed, in addition to the increase in the number of visitors, there were “many more people with books”, he added, specifying that a fact that can already be advanced is that “71% of the visitors who visited the book fair were to buy".
