Following this year's edition, which took place from 14 to 23 June and was attended by more than 10,000 people, Coimbra City Council (CMC) revealed the date of the next Book Fair in a statement quoted by Lusa news agency.

With the growth in programme spaces, in addition to the usual Praça do Comércio, the 2024 Book Fair was also held in Largo do Poço and Largo do Romal, with the motto "10 times 50 years", to mark the 500th anniversary of the birth of Luís de Camões and the 50th anniversary of 25 April.

The 2024 edition was marked by "strong community and artistic involvement, a high turnout and the dissemination of knowledge, contributing to a diverse and participatory programme that brought Baixa closer to a 'literary village'".

In an area filled with 48 stands and 58 participants, the Book Fair welcomed the main national publishing groups, booksellers and bookshops in Coimbra, while continuing to focus on independent and smaller-scale publishers.

Between the days of the event, Largo do Romal was renamed Praça das Famílias (with a children's programme), while Largo do Poço was named Praça da Arte e da Criação (with a focus on artistic thought).

According to the CMC, the feedback from the various agents who took part in the Largo do Romal programme was very positive in terms of public support and the suitability of the space for the programme.
