"As part of an investigation into the prohibited possession of dangerous species, members of SEPNA, together with members of the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF), carried out a house search warrant, during which a specimen of the dangerous species Reticulated Python 'Python reticulatus', of the Pythonidae family, and a specimen of the dangerous species Indian Python 'Python molurus', of the Pythonidae family, were detected", the security forces revealed in a statement.

Following the action, "the specimens were seized and since their possession is prohibited, under Order No. 86/2018, of 27 March, a corresponding report of an offence was drawn up for the prohibited possession of two live specimens of dangerous species, which will be sent to the ICNF, as the responsible administrative entity, and for which the maximum fine may be up to 200 thousand euros".

The seized specimens were delivered to the Lagos Zoological Park, by the decision of the ICNF.
