The “Funk it Out” programme will feature vocalist Ana Rita Inácio and Armindo Neves on guitar, who will take you on a journey through Funk in Jazz and other fusions, with songs such as Tower of Power and Chicago by Pat Metheny.

On August 10 and 11, the programme will begin at 10pm, with performances at the Praça da República in Tavira and Largo da Praia de Carvoeiro, respectively. On August 16, at 9.30pm, the concerts occur at the Jardim das Comunidades in Almancil.

Taking the stage on August 12, at 10pm, the Quintet of the Algarve Jazz Orchestra will present a Herd Bop repertoire which will cover themes by different authors that spanned the golden era of the 1960s to the present day. The concert occur at the Praça do Infante in Lagos, as part of the Book Fair, an event organised by the municipality for another edition packed with books, stories, authors, traditional games, music and lots of entertainment for the whole family.

AnimarTavira24, an event promoted by the Santa Maria de Tavira Parish Council, continues August 22, at 10pm, with a performance by the Quintet led by saxophonist Domingos Miguel. At the Praceta Diogo Mendonça Corte Real in Tavira, they will perform songs by their leader and be joined by one of Portugal’s best voices, Clara Buser, for a multifaced concert with many different colours and tones, which will make this an unforgettable event.

The month will end with a performance by a quartet led by saxophonist Ricardo Pires at the Festa do Banho 29, one of Lagos’ most cherished traditions, which has long since become very popular and is one of the main events in the Municipality of Lagos. On August 29, at Cais da Solaria, from 8pm, a variety of musical genres will be performed, including Bossa Nova, Swing, Ballads, Smooth Jazz, Jazz Funk and Jazz Rock, with songs by authors such as Tom Jobim, Stevie Wonder, Grover Washington, Ramsey Lewis and Irvin Beling.
