The increase occurred "after several consecutive weeks of decline and, on the last day of July, reaching the lowest value of the year".

"On August 7, the price of the food basket of 63 essential goods monitored by DECO PROteste rose by 2.14 euros, to 227.34 euros", said DECO PROteste, which highlighted that "since the beginning of 2024, this basket has already seen its price fall by 8.70 euros (down 3.69%)".

Exactly one year ago, on August 9, 2023, the basket cost 15.40 euros less, down 7.27%.

In the last week, between July 31 and August 7, cereal flakes were the product that increased the most in price (up 22%), followed by tomato pulp (up 18%) and ground roasted coffee (up 16%).

"Since the beginning of the year, between January 3 and August 7, 2024, the biggest price increases were recorded in products such as tuna in olive oil (up 17%), cereal flakes (up 14%), and Gala apples (up 14%)", says DECO PROteste.
