This edition of the festival will include companies from Spain, France, Chile, Brazil, Colombia and Romania, according to the programme by Teatro Estúdio Fontenova, the organiser in partnership with the Setúbal City Council. In addition to the shows, there will be talks on theatre, concerts, short films, an exhibition and the OFF Section – Programa Mais Festa dedicated to emerging artists and structures.

On August 25, Miguel Jesus’ “As mãos das águias” (The hands of the eagles) will be performed at the Bonfim Garden, while “Serrado Grande” by Cães do Mar and Cem Palcos will be featured in the Parque Venâncio Ribeiro Costa Anfiteatro do Castelo de Palmela. During the same day, “Antigone – I feel like hitting someone again” by the Pi-Touch Company (France/Chile) will be presented at the ESSG Blackbox.

On August 27, the winner of the OFF-2023 Section, “Break up” by Joana Raio, will premiere at the ESSG Balckbox, and the following day, at Livraria Culsete, there will be a talk on “Women in Drama” with Ricardo Boléo, Luísa Monteiro and Patrícia Portela, and on August 29, at Jardim do Bonfim, the show “Monotrux”, by the Monotux company (Brazil/Portugal).

As part of the Mais Festa section of the competition, “Secretos. Cuentos de vida, amor e Muerte” by Mónica Chiquillo (Columbia/Portugal) will premiere at the ESSG Auditorium, and “Miorita” by Aualeu Teatru (Romania) at the ESSG courtyard, in the official section.

On August 30, “Cita en el maro” by Zig Zag Danza (Spain) will also be presented as part of the official section, and “Madness is the most credible oracle” by the Women’s School, is scheduled for free admission in the Palhais Garden.

At the end of the month, among other shows, “Fado Mimado” by d’Orfeu AC is scheduled for the Casa de Cultura, also in the official section, “História de uma gaivota e do gato que a ensinou a voar” by Teatromosca and Hipérion Projeto Teatral at the Jardim do Bonfim, and “Moço da cola” by Astro Fingido at the Fórum Municipal Luísa Todi.

Parallel activities from August 21 until September 18 include the exhibition “Mais Branca que a Neve Pura”, by Zé Nova, at the Luísa Todi Municipal Forum, and until August 31 the exhibition ‘Morte das Certezas parte II’, by Paula Moita with the support of students from the D. João II School, in the ESSG courtyard.
