Users of the National Health Service (SNS) will start to be notified from today by the ACSS, in conjunction with the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health (SPMS), as part of the initiative “For a closer SNS, stay closer”.

Notifications will be made via SMS and email, alerting users to “the need to go to their respective health units and complete the missing information”.

In a statement, the ACSS warns that it is a “mandatory condition to maintain an active registration in primary health care (CSP)”.

“There are currently 323,000 user records with incomplete information in the RNU. With the implementation of this measure, it is estimated that 265,000 users (82%) who have a registered mobile phone or email will be contacted”, it adds.

The ACSS explains that the RNU “is a national database designed to identify and register users” in the SNS, “constituting a fundamental tool for the proper functioning of the public health system”.

“The RNU regulation stipulates that registration in a CSP unit presupposes an active registration, through the full completion of the user’s biographical data (such as name, age, gender, country of birth and nationality) and presentation of identification documentation and national residence registration. In the case of foreign citizens, it is also necessary to present a valid residence permit (except for minors), when applicable”, it states.

The ACSS recalls that the RNU information qualification process “has been carried out with great rigor, integrating preventive measures for contact with users, so as not to jeopardize their access to the SNS”.
