The initiative is part of Galp's participation in the EPIS – Entrepreneurs for Social Inclusion project and aims to “award merit scholarships for undergraduate studies to students from Alcoutim, as part of its strategy to promote equal opportunities in access to education and combat school dropouts”, Galp explained in a statement.
The value of the scholarship will be 900 euros per year for three years and “students who have successfully completed secondary education or a bachelor's degree in 2023/2024 and are residents of the municipality can apply”.
“The Galp Foundation is offering 46 merit scholarships across the country for students living in strategic territories for the development of Galp’s energy ecosystem: Matosinhos, Sines, Santiago do Cacém, Setúbal, Alcoutim, Ourique and Alcântara – Lisbon municipality. Students with disabilities from anywhere in the country can also apply for undergraduate scholarships,” said the oil company.
