“We were called due to a chemical substance that was released into the atmosphere. When we arrived, the building had already been evacuated”, a source from the Lisbon Firefighters Regiment told Lusa, adding that “there were strange smells” that led to the emergency force being called.
“At this moment, we still do not know who applied the substance, we only know that it is dangerous for the respiratory tract”, he added, in statements made around 11:00.
The National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) was also called, having assisted at least three people, according to data from the regiment, which indicated that teams from both entities remained on site.
